Lockheed Martin’s Marillyn Hewson is the first woman to ascend to the role of CEO at the world’s largest defense firm. She joins Phebe Novakovic, the CEO of General Dynamics—the nation’s fifth-largest defense firm—as pioneers in their field, one historically dominated by men. And they’re not alone. As the Los Angeles Times reports, by next year, six women will sit on Northrop Grumman’s 14-member senior management team. And just this month, Boeing named seven people to leadership roles, five of them women.
