Wisconsin Guard Improves State Partnership Skills

The Wisconsin Army National Guard Military Engagement Team recently traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico for a two-week language immersion program. Maj. Robert J. Buettner, MET officer-in-charge, believes this will enhance opportunities to deepen the relationship between the Wisconsin Army National Guard and the Nicaraguan military members with whom they will closely work.

Wisconsin Airmen Assist State Non-Profits With Humanitarian Mission

A group of Wisconsin’s Airmen, specializing in logistics and traffic management, helped two Wisconsin volunteer organizations by palletizing and coordinating transport of educational and medical supplies to two foreign countries.

Unique Wisconsin Guard Embarks On Specialized Mission To Afghanistan

Governor Scott Walker, Maj. Gen Don Dunbar, adjutant general of Wisconsin, and military sent off 15 members of the Wisconsin Army National Guard early this month for an advise and assist mission in Afghanistan. The newly formed 104th Security Force Advise and Assist Team will work with the Afghan Border Police on dealing with internal and external security missions.

Col. Joane Mathews became the first female brigade commander in the history of the Wisconsin Army National Guard, bringing nearly 30 years of military experience – including 15 years in the Wisconsin Army National Guard – to her new role.
