SITUATION

A major Hollywood celebrity challenged Capstone to develop and execute a national issue advocacy campaign in 2006 to help elect pro stem cell research candidates to national and state office. The goal was to build a ground swell of grass roots support that would focus the national spotlight on finding cures and giving hope — to those with Parkinson’s and other debilitating diseases.

IMPACT

Capstone developed a savvy advocacy and television ad campaign that generated – almost overnight – a nationwide stem cell political movement that impacted political races across the country. By effectively merging policy, politics and media, this effort is credited with flipping the U.S. Senate majority. Specifically, few political advertisements have ever dominated the airwaves and national press and generated such tremendous buzz as a television ad for a Senate re-election campaign that Capstone wrote and executive produced. The advocacy campaign, managed by Capstone, forever impacted stem cell research.
