Natural-Gas Exports Will Improve U.S. Economy

The U.S., which is sitting on a glut of cheap natural gas, stands to gain economically by exporting, concludes a long-awaited Energy Department report released on Wednesday. The report appears to pave the way for approval in 2013 of up to 20 permit applications by companies seeking to build export terminals. Meanwhile, U.S. oil and gas production is projected to grow through 2040, while consumption will level off, projects the Energy Information Administration’s updated Annual Energy Outlook, released on Wednesday.
