ALABAMA IS LAST AGAIN NJ writes, “Alabama is the last state in the country in which home-brewing is illegal. In fact, it’s illegal just to own the equipment to brew beer. Two bills—one in the state House and the other in the state Senate—making it legal for individuals to make as much as 15 gallons of beer, wine, or hard cider every three months could pass as early as next week.” Yes, a slow news week in Washington. AND JUST IN TIME Craft beer brewers converged this week for the industry’s first conference, The New York Times reports. And with it came much glad-handing with Congressional staffers as brewery workers pushed for tax cuts they say will enable them to brew more beer and hire more workers.
