Fracking Caused 2011 Earthquake

“A study published in the journal Geology on Tuesday concludes that the disposal of wastewater created as a byproduct of hydraulic fracturing caused an earthquake in Oklahoma in 2011,” Bloomberg News reports. “The central United States has seen an extraordinary increase in seismic activity since the beginning of the fracking boom, with 134 seismic events in 2011, compared with an average of 21 a year in the final decades of the 20th century.”
