The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is in the market for “subsistence” in the form of 678 dozen doughnuts — raspberry-filled, lemon-filled, glazed and other delicious varieties. The solicitation, first reported by Time Magazine’s Mark Thompson, seems to fly in the face of recent reports that the military is getting stricter about its fitness assessments as it prepares to downsize. Bids to provide the donuts were due yesterday. Sorry.
