Debt Limit To Be Hit By Year’s End

The federal government will reach its debt limit in the last week of the year, according to an analysis from the Bipartisan Policy Center. The U.S. Treasury will be able to continue to meet its obligations until some point in February by employing so-called “extraordinary measures,” the analysis concludes. But if Congress and the White House cannot raise the limit before year’s end, there will be little time left to prevent a default.
