Milwaukee – Capstone National Partners is proud to announce that Kate Venne, the firm’s Director of Public Relations, was honored at the annual Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Paragon Awards ceremony Tuesday, June 3, at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center. Venne received a Merit Award in the PR Program-Media category, which is one of the most popular categories. The Paragon Awards honor excellence in public relations work from the Southeastern Wisconsin area.
“I’m very excited to receive this award and be recognized among my peers in the public relations industry,” said Venne. “It’s great to be honored for our hard work and dedication to our client. We received the Merit Award on behalf of the extensive media coverage we achieved for Gorman & Company’s grand opening of a unique school-turned-apartments, Sherman Park Apartments.”
According to Venne, Sherman Park Apartments redeveloped a vacant Milwaukee Public School named after American baseball legend, Jackie Robinson, into affordable housing for an aging population. Media relations efforts surrounding “Old School Home Run for Gorman” secured front page, day-of news coverage, and broadcast stories on all Milwaukee stations. Targeted media pitching focused on the building’s unique history, its residents, as well as the successful partnership with Milwaukee Public Schools and the City of Milwaukee.
This year’s awards program recognized the winners in 44 categories. Program entries include all plans and materials from the inception to the completion of the program. The judging process evaluates all entries based on five criteria: objectives; research and planning; execution; budget; and results.
