Armed Services Republicans: No Mandate For Obama

HASC Republicans remain defiant on defense spending and taxes, even as their party leaders strike a more conciliatory tone. Their stance in the face of Obama’s reelection offers a window into the difficult task ahead for House Speaker John Boehner, who’s grasping for leverage as he prepares to haggle with the White House over tax hikes and spending cuts scheduled for year’s end. “I am confident there is enough bi-partisan agreement on funding for the Pentagon that we can avert further deep cuts,” HASC Chairman Buck McKeon said.
